The Regional Cancer Center has been bringing expert cancer care close to home for patients in the northwestern Pennsylvania region since 1987 and is affiliated with UPMC Cancer Centers, one of the largest integrated community networks of cancer physicians and health care specialists in the country. The Regional Cancer Center’s working relationship with UPMC Cancer Centers facilitates an exchange of information to integrate our community cancer center with the resources of one of the top academic programs in the country, collaborating to bring comprehensive and state-of-the-art treatment innovations and services to our patients.

Temporary Cancer Registry Abstractor
POSITION SUMMARY:
Cancer Registrar is responsible for the technical operation of the Cancer Registry including initial data collection, follow-up information and maintenance of cancer data files in accordance with the Facility Oncology Registry Data Standards (FORDS) of the American College of Surgeons’ Commission on Cancer and the Pennsylvania Cancer Registry.
This is a temporary position lasting approximately six to nine months. Candidates will be able to work remotely, other than brief availability to initially train onsite; relocation is not required for this position.
PRINCIPLE FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Reviews cancer patient medical records and abstracts complete demographic, diagnosis, and treatment information utilizing the computerized data abstracting system in accordance with all applicable guidelines of the Facility Oncology Registry Data Standards of the American College of Surgeons and the Pennsylvania Cancer Registry.
2. Uses reasonable effort to obtain the appropriate diagnosis and treatment information from outside institutions when necessary for data collection.
3. Responsible for ensuring that abstracts completed prior to initiation of all first course treatment are routinely monitored for complete data collection.
4. Responsible for running all appropriate edit checks at the completion of each abstract.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
High School graduate or the equivalent. Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR). Three years experience in a medical setting with demonstrated knowledge and expertise in medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology is recommended. Experience in medical record coding is desirable. Knowledge and experience in computerized data entry. Must pay strict attention to detail and be able to switch from one activity to another without notice and with a minimum of disruption.

Executive Assistant to the Executive Director
POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Executive Director, this position is responsible for providing any and all administrative/clerical support to carry out duties and responsibilities of the position to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the office of the Executive Director. Responsible for coordinating special projects as directed. Professionally interfaces with the Board of Directors, Physicians, Board Members, Hospital and other Clinic representatives, Community Leaders and dignitaries.
PRINCIPLE FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Maintain, organize, coordinate and plan daily appointment calendar for the Executive Director using discretion in scheduling and rescheduling of appointments. Interface with the Board of Directors, executive offices at SVHC, UPMC HMC, UPMC, and RCC Staff scheduling meetings, etc.
2. Prepare drafts and finalize correspondence, reports and memoranda as directed. Use initiative to compose responses to routine correspondence.
3. Make arrangements for all meetings, including notifying attendees, reserving rooms, arranging room set up and refreshment requirements. Prepare and distribute agenda. Attend, take, transcribe, distribute and keep minute books for board, finance committee and management meetings.
4. Edit and receive inquiries in form of telephone calls and visitors. Transmit detailed information, answer questions, take accurate messages and refer inquiries to the appropriate individuals.
5. In the Executive Director’s absence use initiative and judgment to see that matters requiring attention are referred to the delegated authority and handle in a manner as to minimize effect of the Director’s absence.
6. Arrange business itineraries and coordinate travel requirements.
7. Correlate and edit mail and material submitted to the Executive Director, which consists of opening, routing, and handling of mail to expedite same and alleviate management burden.
8. Ensure that all aspects of confidentiality are maintained.
9. Enter and process invoices to ensure timely payment of accounts payable.
10. Organize office workflow and maintain accurate records while maintaining proficiency in typing, computer/word processing, composition and writing skills, proper grammar, spelling and office demeanor.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
Must possess exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to handle a diversity of situations, personal encounters and business transactions. Must be able to handle and retain confidential information and sensitive matters. Proficiency with various Microsoft Office 2007 products to include Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, Microsoft Office Master Certification preferred. Must be an organized and flexible team player with exceptional multitasking and time management skills. Must be able to make independent decisions and function with minimum supervision. A minimum of three to five years experience working in executive level administrative, secretarial, clerical support required.
