Planned Giving

Planned Gifts Create Legacies of Giving

When you think of leaving your philanthropic legacy, you search for a cause that is dear to your heart, where you know you can truly make a difference, where your gift will be recognized and encourage other gifts through your example. When you make a planned gift to Regional Cancer Center's Foundation you can be sure you are supporting comprehensive cancer care close to home — meeting the medical needs of patients while also helping them cope with their disease and treatment.

A bequest to Regional Cancer Center Foundation through a Will supports the mission of Regional Cancer Center. Bequests are the most common type of planned gift and allow donors to retain control of their assets for their own needs. The beneficiary designations in a Will, as well as the specific gift amounts and types, can be changed by donors at any time during their lives. Charitable gifts through your Will reduce the size of your estate. This can result in estate tax savings, both at the federal and state levels, if your net worth is above the current estate tax exemption limit.

It is important to receive advice from someone who understands your finances, assets, and income; possesses expertise in the area of taxes and/or estate planning; and has a legal responsibility to look out for your best interests. We encourage you to involve a trusted professional/adviser, like an attorney, certified public accountant, financial planner or broker when you are considering making any type of planned gift.

As you consider making a bequest to Regional Cancer Center Foundation to strengthen our research and clinical programs and services, the following language may be useful to you and your attorney: Specific Bequests: I give Regional Cancer Center Foundation, a nonprofit corporation located in Erie, Pennsylvania 16505 [(the sum of $_______) or (____% of my estate) or (the property described herein) or (the remainder of my estate)] to be used by Regional Cancer Center Foundation for its general purposes.

There are other planned giving opportunities we can discuss such as gifts of stock, life insurance, qualified retirement plans, or real estate.

100% of your charitable gift to Regional Cancer Center Foundation supports care provided locally in Erie, PA.

Planned Gift for Trilogy

Mrs. Agnes V. Baker of Warren, PA wanted to support the patients of RCC. She included the cancer center in her will with the restriction that her gift be used for cancer equipment. After her death, RCC received her gift of $150,000 which was held in anticipation of funding the purchase of new technology.

In late 2011, a second Trilogy linear accelerator was installed at RCC to embrace opportunities for continued advancements in delivering radiation therapy. Mrs. Baker’s intentions were fulfilled when her donation contributed to fund this purchase and we thank her for helping to make this technology available to patients of RCC.
