Red blood cells carry oxygen and nutrients to all of the cells of the body. Chemotherapy may lower the red blood cell count, causing anemia.

Signs and Symptoms of Anemia

  • Severe weakness
  • Sudden profound decrease in energy
  • Shortness of breath
  • Heart pounding or palpitations
  • Ringing in the ears
  • Chest pain
  • Dizziness, light-headedness
  • Headache
