Simulation/Port-Filming/Skin Care Instructions

What is Port-Filming?

Port-filming is the use of the treatment machine to verify the marks on your skin, check the positioning of any shielding devices, and confirm the computer plan designed for each individual by dosimetry and physics.

Where Do I Go for Port-Filming?

You will receive your port-filming at The Regional Cancer Center location where you will be receiving your radiation therapy, either Erie, Meadville or Northeast Ohio.

How Much Time is Involved?

Port-Filming time varies for each patient; please allow one hour.

Who Does the Port-Filming?

A registered Radiation Therapist under the direction of your physician will facilitate this procedure.

When and What Time will I start My Treatments?

The therapist at the treatment machine will establish a regular appointment time with you and notify you when to return for treatment.

Why the Delay from Simulation to Treatment?

After the simulation visit, the dosimetrist and physicist, under the physician's supervision, will design an individualized plan of treatment with the use of computers and other special equipment.

If you have any questions regarding simulation, please call the Center.
