Out In The Community Community Events Our Patient Area contains helpful links to other sites with a wealth of information on cancer prevention and reduction. At The Regional Cancer Center, we believe our responsibility extends beyond giving care to our patients. It involves educating the community as well. We provide education about cancer-related topics to physicians and health care professionals, as well as community groups and the public. Our efforts include: • Participating in health fairs and providing cancer information throughout the region. • Providing breast cancer screenings through our Mobile Mammography Program. • Providing CancerHelp touch-screen computers with cancer-related software to our patients at the Center and to the public through a donation to the Erie County Library. • Conducting continuing medical education seminars and conferences for physicians, nurses and other health care professionals featuring speakers who are leaders in cancer care. • Creating cancer awareness guides that outline the risks for certain types of cancer, ways to reduce them, detecting cancers and treating them. • Celebrating life after a cancer diagnosis with our annual Festival of Life. • Collaborating with other organizations to develop and implement cancer awareness and prevention programs. These programs reflect our ongoing commitment not only to excel in cancer care, but to share what we've learned with the communities we serve.
