Urologic Cancer Center of Excellence
It is the goal of The RCC to provide expert care to all of its patients and to collaborate with other healthcare providers in the delivery of treatment. In addition to the multidisciplinary clinics that include practitioners from other specialties, The RCC has other formalized relationships with its partners who participate in the continuum of care in oncology.
In 2010, the urologists at Hamot Medical Center will begin to offer prostate seed brachytherapy services to patients. In cooperation with the physicists and radiation oncologists of The RCC, Hamot continues to expand its oncologic treatment options to patients.
In 2009, RCC and Allied Urology Associates established a Urologic Cancer Center of Excellence at The RCC. Collaborating with RCC physicians, Allied Urology Associates provides a urologic medical directorship and urologic consulting services. The Allied Urology physicians continue their practice at Saint Vincent Health Center while being involved in the patient care activities and community outreach efforts of The RCC. Dr. Peter Lund is the first to serve a term as Urologic Medical Director. He and his partners provide direction and coordination of urologic cancer services, facilitate best practices among physician colleagues based upon published data and established benchmarks, and collaborate with regional physicians on urologic cancer issues. This partnership brings the benefits of interdisciplinary care to our urologic cancer patients behind the scenes, making the most of what each specialty has to offer to patients.
