As part of the Wellness for Life program, “An Evening of Support for Women with Breast Cancer” will be held at the Regional Cancer Center (RCC) Main Conference Room on Wednesday, October 19th from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

This discussion, led by Licensed Social Worker Maryann Frontino, and RCC’s Breast Clinic Coordinator Diane Simon, will focus on how RCC can best serve those affected by breast cancer and what participants would like to see in a support group moving forward.

“It is always nice to have patients at all different stages of their journey,” says Diane. Past and present breast cancer patients of all ages are welcome to assist in helping to impact a patient in the early stages or to discuss long-term issues that may arise in survivorship.

Participants will meet other women who are navigating the world of a new normal through an evening of awareness, support, and companionship. There is much room for growth for the program. With Maryann leading discussion groups as a guide and moderator, patients have the freedom to express their feelings and share their experiences.

“Women can expect a welcoming, non-threatening environment to share their feelings and pose questions to others who have gone through a similar experience,” says Maryann. In the past, various speakers have also been present to provide further education on the breast cancer experience.

The support group will be offered regularly on the third Wednesday of every month, excluding December.

Those interested in attending may RSVP to Maryann Frontino at 814-836-2636, by emailing Registration for this event, as well as other support groups and classes offered for both men and women through the Wellness for Life program, is also available online here.
