RCC’s new Fall 2016 Wellness for Life Class calendar is now available with exciting new classes from The Village of Healing and Wellness and BLOOM Collaborative.

“We continue to offer mind, body, spirit classes that encompass tools to improve the emotional and physical well being of people, and their support persons, affected by cancer,” says Survivorship Navigator/Wellness & Community Education Coordinator, Sarah Humphrey. “We are excited to be partnering, once again, with BLOOM Collaborative where their talented instructors will be leading a fused glass and pottery class. New this fall, we will offer QiGong at the Village of Healing and Wellness. ”

The Village is locally owned by Sifu Fred Popeski, who has studied various martial arts since 1992. His classes focus on mind-body healing, as his main interest as a Certified Quantum Touch Practitioner and Certified Instructor, is Tai Chi. Participants will be able to learn the two ideas of Qi Gong by practicing mediation, relaxation, physical movement, mind-body integration, and breathing exercises.

“This Qigong class is open to all men and women who would like to restore energy and reduce anxiety,” states Humphrey. “Qi” means, air, breath of life, or vital energy of the body. “Gong” means the skill of working with, or cultivating, self-discipline and achievement.

These hour long classes at The Village will be offered as a six week session at 2558 West 8th Street beginning every Thursday at 11 am on October 13th.

BLOOM Collaborative “provides a holistic approach to wellness recognizing the healing power of creativity, mindfulness, and environment.” Run by Stairways Behavioral Health and influenced by their picturesque surroundings, BLOOM focuses on art as a means to grow, heal, connect with others in the community, and to inspire creativeness.

The classes will consist of four weeks of fused glass lessons and four weeks of clay lessons. Glass sessions will take place at BLOOM Collaborative Art Studio at 138 East 26th Street and the clay sessions will be held at BLOSSOM’s clay studio at 138 East 25th Street between French and Holland Streets. The sessions begin on September 8th every Thursday from 6-8 pm.

In addition to these partnerships, The Glenwood YMCA will continue to offer a variety of classes in their Holistic Center for patients, as well. Please be sure to visit our page online here or request a free Wellness class booklet next time you are at the Center to check out all of the classes offered.
